Students may elect to graduate using the degree requirements in effect at the time of
matriculation or completion. If a program is official after a student has matriculat-
ed, the student may choose the degree requirements of the new program.
In no case may a student use a catalog which is more than six years old at the time
of graduation.

Successful completion of this program will enable students, who are not interested in becoming interpreters, to work in a variety of situa-
tions with the deaf community. Students will obtain a strong understanding of American Sign Language, as well as deaf culture and history of
deafness. Students will be able to communicate with deaf family members, friends and co-workers. Students also have the option to enter the
Associate of Applied Science program in Deaf Studies to further their skills and understanding.

• Demonstrate fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) demon-
