Student Orientation for Success (S.O.S.)

The CSN Spring 2012 Student Orientation for Success program begins in November. Students who are interested in attending CSN next spring and summer must follow the Students First Admissions process at www.csn.edu/future .

Those students attending Orientation, please remember to do the following:

1. Submit a MyCSN Online Admissions Application.
2. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible. For more information, please view the New Student Admissions Process at www.csn.edu/future (For Spanish language materials, please visit http://www.csn.edu/informacion).
3. Take the Math and English Placement Exams. Visit the Testing Center site at www.csn.edu/testing.
4. Visit our Degree List website to explore the different degree and certificate programs that we offer. If you are interested in one of our Health Programs, explore the Health Program Advisement Sheets for each program and make plans to attend a Health Programs Orientation as soon as possible.

Scheduled Orientations & Academic Advising Workshops

When attending an S.O.S Orientation, please bring the following to the event:

1. Your 10-digit NSHE identification number.
2. Your Math and English Placement Test Scores. Math scores are immediately available, English scores can take several weeks. If possible, bring both, otherwise, bring at least your Math score. If you have ACT or SAT scores, please take them to a Testing Center at any main campus for placement, and
3. Any prior unofficial college or university transcripts for assistance with course selection.
4. A printed copy of the degree or certificate program that interests you from our Degree List webpage or from the Health Programs Degree List webpage.

First-time CSN students unable to attend the post-orientation advising workshop may visit the Counseling Office at any of the three main campuses and receive course planning assistance.

Counseling appointments are available in three different formats:

• Express Counseling -No appointment necessary, for new first-time students without previous college credits and for quick questions.
• Same Day Appointments - available each day at 8:00 am on a first come first served basis only. Lately, lines start as early as 7:30 a.m.
• Future Appointments - appointments given for future time within a 2-week period, can call by phone to make the appointment

• Spring Semester 2012 classes begin Monday, January 23, 2012.
• If you have any problems with your NSHE Student ID, call or visit the Office of the Registrar at any of the three main campuses. If you are having password difficulties, call our CSN Help Desk at 651-HELP or (702) 651-4357.
• Math, English, and Science courses fill up very quickly, we recommend you don't delay registering for these classes.
