- DAN 101 - Dance Appreciation: (3 credits) A multi-cultural exploration of the world's first and most universal art form. Ballet history, sex and social dance, the politics of dance and 20th century self-expression among others are investigated through lecture, video and demonstration.
- DAN 108 - Pilates I: (1 credit) Pilates based floor work emphasizing increased flexibility and strength with application to dancers and non-dancers alike. (Course was previously called DAN 198B ST Pilates For Dancers)
- DAN 115 - Middle-Eastern Dance I: (1 credit) Learn to isolate and undulate gracefully to the mysterious sounds of Middle-Eastern music. Explore the ancient arts of belly dance and the people throughout history who have contributed to its evolution. (Course was previously called DAN 170 Beginning Middle Eastern Dancing)
- DAN 119 - Swing Dance: (1 credit) Instruction in a variety of swing dance styles, including East Coast, Balboa, and Charleston with an emphasis on Lindy Hop. Pre or Co-requisite DAN 125. (Course was called DAN 198B ST Swing Dance)
- DAN 125 - Ballroom Dance (Beginning): (1 credit) Instruction in the major ballroom dances including: Waltz, Swing, Foxtrot, Tango, Rumba, and the Cha-Cha.
- DAN 126 - Ballroom Dance (Beginning/Intermediate): (1 credit) Continuation of beginning ballroom dance. Prerequisite: DAN 125 or equivalent.
- DAN 128 - Latin Dance: (1 credit) Further development of Latin dances introduced in Beginning Ballroom Dance, plus the introduction of additional dances within the genre, including: Salsa, Merengue, Samba, and Mambo. Prerequisite DAN 125. (Course was previously called DAN 168 Latin Dance)
- DAN 132 - Jazz Dance (Beginning): (1 credit) Beginning techniques of jazz dance.
- DAN 133 - Jazz Dance (Beginning/Intermediate): (1 credit) Continuation of beginning jazz dance. Prerequisite: DAN 132 or equivalent experience.
- DAN 135 - Ballet (Beginning): (1 credit) Beginning techniques and theory of classical ballet.
- DAN 136 - Ballet (Beginning/Intermediate): (1 credit) Continuation of beginning ballet with more demanding concepts and skills. Prerequisite: DAN 135 or equivalent experience.
- DAN 138 - Modern Dance (Beginning): (1 credit) Introductory technique and theory of modern concert dance.
- DAN 139 - Modern Dance (Beginning/Intermediate): (1 credit) Continuation of Modern Dance (Beginning). Students should have taken DAN 138 or equivalent. This course may be repeated to a maximum of four credits.
- DAN 144 - Tap Dance (Beginning): (1 credit) Beginning techniques of tap dancing.
- DAN 145 - Tap Dance (Beginning/Intermediate): (1 credit) Continuation of Beginning Tap Dance. Prerequisite: DAN 144 or equivalent experience.
- DAN 175 - Yoga For Dancers: (1 credit) Yoga techniques of stretching and breathing applied to the dancer's instrument with resultant stress relief, increased flexibility and enhanced physical alignment.
- DAN 188 - Dance Improvisation: (2 credits) Development of performance and compositional skill through the exploration and analysis of basic dance elements including time, shape, space, motion and dynamics.
- DAN 215 - Middle Eastern Dance II: (1 credit) A continuation of learning to isolate and undulate gracefully to the mysterious sounds of Middle Eastern music. A further exploration of the ancient arts of belly dance and the people throughout history who have contributed to its evolution. Pre-requisite: DAN 115 or equivalent experience. (Course was previously called DAN 270 Intermediate Middle Eastern Dancing)
- DAN 225 - Ballroom Dance (Intermediate): (1 credit) Intermediate techniques of ballroom dance. Prerequisite: DAN 126 or equivalent experience.
- DAN 232 - Jazz Dance (Intermediate ): (1 credit) Intermediate techniques of jazz dance. Prerequisite: DAN 133 or equivalent experience.
- DAN 235 - Ballet (Intermediate): (1 credit) Technique and theory of classical ballet. Prerequisite: DAN 136 or equivalent experience.
- DAN 236 - Ballet (Intermediate/Advanced): (1 credit) A continuation of Ballet (Intermediate). Students should have taken DAN 235 or equivalent. This course may be repeated to a maximum of four credits.
- DAN 238 - Modern Dance (Intermediate): (1 credit) Technique and theory of modern concert dance. Prerequisite: DAN 138 or equivalent experience.
- DAN 239 - Modern Dance (Intermediate/Advanced): (1 credit) Continuation of Modern Dance (Intermediate). Students should have taken DAN 238 or equivalent. This course may be repeated to a maximum of four credits.
- DAN 244 - Tap Dance (Intermediate): (1 credit) Intermediate techniques of tap dance. Students should have taken DAN 144 or equivalent. This course may be repeated to a maximum of four credits.
- DAN 245 - Repertory Tap Dance: (1 credit) Learning of tap repertory and new choreography leading to performance opportunities. Prerequisite: DAN 145 or equivalent experience.
- DAN 281 - Dance Performance: (1 credit) Learning of repertory and new choreography leading to formal and informal performance opportunities.
- DAN 284 - Dance Project: (1 credit) Complete production of a dance piece including choreography, sound score selection, costume design, and all production aspects to result in performance of the piece in the CSN Student Dance Concert. Restricted to AA Dance Emphasis candidates. Prerequisites: DAN 188 and 288.
- DAN 287 - Concert Dance Company: (1 credit) Professionally structured rehearsal of repertory and new choreography in preparation for formal performances, educational outreach programs and possible touring. Prerequisites: DAN 188, DAN 235, DAN 238 or equivalent experience. Class size limited, audition required.
- DAN 288 - Choreography: (2 credits) Introduction to the art of making dances with emphasis on the manipulation of time, shape, space, motion, and dynamics.
