  • DAN 101 - Dance Appreciation: A multi-cultural exploration of the world's first and most universal art form. Ballet history, sex and social dance, the politics of dance and 20th century self-expression among others are investigated through lecture, video and demonstration. (3 credits)
  • DAN 125 - Beginning Ballroom Dance: Instruction in the major ballroom dances including: Waltz, Swing, Foxtrot, Tango, Rumba, and the Cha-Cha. (1 credit)
  • DAN 126 - Beginning/Intermediate Ballroom Dance: Continuation of beginning ballroom dance. Prerequisite: DAN 125 or equivalent. (1 credit)
  • DAN 132 - Beginning Jazz Dance: Beginning techniques of jazz dance. (1 credit)
  • DAN 133 - Beginning/Intermediate Jazz Dance: Continuation of beginning jazz dance. Prerequisite: DAN 132 or equivalent experience. (1 credit)
  • DAN 135 - Beginning Ballet: Beginning techniques and theory of classical ballet. (1 credit)
  • DAN 136 - Beginning/Intermediate Ballet: Continuation of beginning ballet with more demanding concepts and skills. Prerequisite: DAN 135 or equivalent experience. (1 credit)
  • DAN 138 - Beginning Modern Dance: Introductory technique and theory of modern concert dance. (1 credit)
  • DAN 144 - Beginning Tap Dance: Beginning techniques of tap dancing. (1 credit)
  • DAN 145 - Beginning/Intermediate Tap Dance: Continuation of Beginning Tap of Dance.  Prerequisite: DAN 144 or equivalent experience. (1 credit)
  • DAN 168 - Latin Dance: Further development of Latin dances introduced in Beginning Ballroom Dance, plus the introduction of additional dances within the genre, including: Salsa, Merengue, Samba, and Mambo. Prerequisite DAN 125. (1 credit)
  • DAN 170 - Beginning Middle Eastern Dancing: Learn to isolate and undulate gracefully to the mysterious sounds of Middle-Eastern music. Explore the ancient arts of belly dance and the people throughout history who have contributed to its evolution. (1 credit)
  • DAN 175 - Yoga For Dancers: Yoga techniques of stretching and breathing applied to the dancer's instrument with resultant stress relief, increased flexibility and enhanced physical alignment. (1 credit)
  • DAN 188 - Dance Improvisation: Development of performance and compositional skill through the exploration and analysis of basic dance elements including time, shape, space, motion and dynamics. (2 credits)
  • DAN 198B ST - Pilates For Dancers: Pilates based floor work emphasizing increased flexibility and strength with application to dancers and non-dancers alike. (1 credit)
  • DAN 198B ST - Argentine Tango: Introduction to Argentine Tango. Prerequisite: DAN 125. (1 credit)
  • DAN 198B ST - African Dance: Introduction to the dance styes of Africa. (1 credit)
  • DAN 198B ST - East Indian Dance : Introduction to the technique of East Indian Classical Dance (Bharata Natyam) and contemporary Indian dance. (1 credit)
  • DAN 198B ST - Swing Dance : Instruction in a variety of swing dance styles, including East Coast, Balboa, and Charleston with an emphasis on Lindy Hop. Pre or Co-requisite DAN 125. (1 credit)
  • DAN 225 - Intermediate Ballroom Dance: Intermediate techniques of ballroom dance.   Prerequisite: DAN 126 or equivalent experience.  (1 credit)
  • DAN 232 - Intermediate Jazz Dance: Intermediate techniques of jazz dance. Prerequisite: DAN 133 or equivalent experience. (1 credit)
  • DAN 235 - Intermediate Ballet: Technique and theory of classical ballet.  Prerequisite: DAN 136 or equivalent experience. (1 credit)
  • DAN 238 - Intermediate Modern Dance: Technique and theory of modern concert dance. Prerequisite: DAN 138 or equivalent experience. (1 credit)
  • DAN 245 - Repertory Tap Dance: Learning of tap repertory and new choreography leading to performance opportunities. Prerequisite: DAN 145 or equivalent experience. (1 credit)
  • DAN 270 - Intermediate Middle Eastern Dance: A continuation of learning to isolate and undulate gracefully to the mysterious sounds of Middle Eastern music. A further exploration of the ancient arts of belly dance and the people throughout history who have contributed to its evolution. Pre-requisite: DAN 170 or equivalent experience. (1 credit)
  • DAN 281 - Dance Performance: Learning of repertory and new choreography leading to formal and informal performance opportunities. (1 credit)
  • DAN 287 - Concert Dance Company: Professionally structured rehearsal of repertory and new choreography in preparation for formal performances, educational outreach programs and possible touring. Prerequisites: DAN 188, DAN 235, DAN 238 or equivalent experience. Class size limited, audition required. (1 credit)
  • DAN 288 - Choreography: Introduction to the art of making dances with emphasis on the manipulation of time, shape, space, motion, and dynamics. (2 credits)
