Strategic Planning and Assessment

The Portfolio Management Group provides strategic planning, governance support, and assessment services. These services help OTS align with campus goals.

Strategic Planning
Strategic (long-term) planning sets the high-level objectives for OTS. The outcomes of strategic planning help us answer questions such as:

  • "What services does this organization want to be able to provide in three years? In Five?"    
  • "What will our organization look like in the future?"    
  • "What are the goals of our organization, and how well do they align with campus goals?"

Strategic planning is a continuous process that invites campus input, and results in an evolving strategic planning document that informs the campus about what we are working on and why. This process helped OTS to develop its current goals, and will result in the creation of a 3-5 year strategic plan in the coming year.

Governance Support
The IT Governance process works out how we will achieve our goals. OTS supports IT governance teams through agenda planning and facilitation, event coordination, membership services, and general support.

Assessment
Assessment asks, "How will we know when we get there?" OTS provides the support structure for measuring our performance as an organization. We perform regular assessment efforts, such as the OTS Customer Survey, and conduct internal assessment of our processes and services on an annual basis. We support the creation of an Annual Report, and provide presentations about what OTS is working on throughout the year.
