Academics

Welding Technology

The Welding Technology program at the College of Southern Nevada is recognized by the American Welding Society (AWS) as a S.E.N.S.E. affiliate educational institution and Sustaining Company Member. It offers both a one year Certificate of Achievement and a two year AAS degree.

The curriculum focuses on the most widely used techniques and processes found in industry:

  • SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding)
  • GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding)
  • FCAW (Flux Cored Arc Welding)
  • GTAW (Gas Tungston Arc Welding)

In addition to basic welding classes, specialty courses include:

  • Non Destructive Testing/CWI Preparation
  • Blueprint and Welding Symbols
  • AWS D1.1 Codebook

Graduating students will have a comprehensive and complete understanding of all major welding processes and will have the opportunity to be recognized nationally as AWS Entry Level or as Advanced Level welders, depending on their choice of study.

For more information about the Welding Technology program, please contact John W. Cavenaugh at 702-651-3068 or email at john.cavenaugh@csn.edu.
