  • Excellent employment opportunities are expected because the number of job openings is expected to exceed the number of qualified managers.

Nature of the Work

  • Know local and international building codes
  • Work from blueprints or instruction from contractors
  • Oversee the completion of all construction in accordance with the engineer’s and architect’s drawings and specifications.
  • Arrange for trade contractors and specialized craftwork.
  • Evaluate construction methods and determine the most cost-effective plan and schedule.

Training

  • 2-year associate degree transferable to a 4-year institution for a bachelor’s degree.
  • Along with on-the-job experience

Covers building materials from foundation to roof used for exterior and interior carpentry, including finish and rough hardware. Methods of installation are discussed. 3 Credits.

CONS 198B ST: Construction Site Safety OSHA Standards

This course includes 30-hours of authorized training addressing the 29 CFR 1926 OSHA Construction Industry Regulation Standards. The identification of asbestos, lead and radon in potential construction projects will also be covered in this course. Upon completion, students will be issued a course completion 30-hour wallet card by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration. (Same as ESH 198B) 3 Credits.
