Academics

Architectural Drafting

Opportunities

  • are best for individuals who have at least two years of postsecondary training in drafting and considerable skill and experience using computer-aided drafting (CAD) systems.

Nature of Work

  • Architectural Drafters draw architectural and structural features of buildings and other structures. Most drafters use computer-aided drafting (CAD) systems.

Training

  • Community college credits are more likely to be accepted at 4-year colleges than are credits from technical institutes. After completing a 2-year associate degree program, graduates may obtain jobs as drafters or continue their education in a related field at 4-year colleges. Four-year colleges offer courses in architecture engineering and other related fields.
