14th Annual CSN/Tom Ferguson Jazz Combo Camp

July 18 through July 22, 2011
Instrumental and Vocal Jazz

The College of Southern Nevada and its Department of Fine Arts are very proud to present the 14th Annual CSN/Tom Ferguson Jazz Combo Camp on behalf of jazz students everywhere. Las Vegas is unique to the entire country, with some of the finest jazz musicians in the world in residence here. Only in Las Vegas will you find musicians from top jazz bands and Las Vegas shows playing side by side with students just beginning the exciting journey into jazz and improvisation.

Open to vocalists and instrumentalists of all abilities and ages (middle-school to senior citizens), the camp will provide the opportunity for students to not only learn from, but study with, play with, and listen to jazz musicians of the highest caliber. Besides learning, you will have FUN!!

The vocal element of the CSN/Tom Ferguson Jazz Combo Camp is designed to expose students to the world of vocal jazz. Students will learn the basics of vocal production, jazz singing in a group and solo formats, improvisation and microphone technique.

Daily performances by the faculty are a highlight for the community and camp participants. The five-day camp concludes with performances by the camp's student groups beginning at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 22. This Grand Finale event in the Nicholas J. Horn Theatre is free and open to the public.

If you need special accommodations, please contact the Disability Resource Center on the Cheyenne Campus at (702) 651-4045.
