Using Your iPod as a Hard Disk
Why would you want to do this? You can add text files to read on the iPod. Called notes on the iPod, these text files must be in .TXT format but can be lengthy. Use this to review notes and lists on the go.
Where do I get the notes? By using a free web site, iPod-Notes.com, you can easily turn web sites or documents into notes. You can also create your own .TXT files in any word processing software.
How do they get on the iPod? Once you enable the hard disk usage for your iPod in iTunes, a connected iPod will show as a drive on your computer. Like any USB drive, you can drag and drop any files to the device. Remember to safely eject the iPod as you would any USB drive!
How do I set up the the hard disk function? You can read Apple's instructions for full details. Essentially, you need to connect the iPod and launch iTunes. Inside iTunes, check the box for Enable disk use in the device manager options on the Summary tab.
