Transfer Project: (60 points) – This project consists of doing a compare and contrast outline and paper. It will be looking at the transfer agreement between CSN and Regis (see bottom of syllabus for this document along with a contact to gather information for the project). The second part is looking at a transfer from CSN to UNLV (contact is the same person as that for the CSN Regis portion). First step is to get together a list of questions that you would like to ask the contact. The transfer information you will need to find considers a transfer following this course or after you obtain your degree from CSN. (Potential questions; What credits will transfer? How much will it cost to obtain my Bachelors, once I transfer? Are there scholarships for me given my current status? Is there financial aide? Will there be help in finding a job? How long will it take, once I transfer, to graduate with my Bachelors? What are the pros and cons of transferring to each college?) Once you have gathered the information from the contact and filled out your transfer sheets, so that you know where you stand with credits and your transfer you are ready to start your final portion of the project. Put together an outline that shows your finding regarding the Regis transfer including what courses you have taken, what needs to be completed, what are the costs, what scholarships and financial aide is available at each institution, what is the time frame to a CSN degree, and Bachelors graduation at both Regis and UNLV, along with your personal findings as part of this project. Example; Number I. Transfer to Regis – then provide all of your information. Number II. Transfer to UNLV – then provide all of your information. Number III - Overall findings and discussion of project. You may add other sections if you find it to be more helpful in understanding your information.
Grades will be determined by the student's performance on chapter exams, homework assignments, and discussion board postings. Each chapter exam will be worth 30 points and there are two exams for each chapter, for a total of 780 points for graded exams. Assignments will also have a combined possible score of 130 points. The written paper will count for 60 points and the transfer project will count for 60 points. The maximum number of total points for the course is 960.
