The College of Southern Nevada softball team extended their winning streak to 13 with a four-game sweep of Snow College this weekend at the Russell Road Recreation Complex, winning 10-1 and 6-5 on Friday before sweeping the Saturday doubleheader, 9-1 and 5-2.
In Friday's opener, Mandy Tapia went five innings, walking one and striking out six to earn the win. Lyndsi Maglish hit a 3-run home run during the Coyotes' 6-run third inning. Berlynn Bagley was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
The Badgers (6-17, 5-13 Scenic West Athletic Conference) threatened late in Friday's sceond game, scoring a run in the seventh to get within one. But with two outs and two runners in scoring position, Christina Jones was able to get Snow to fly out to right field to preserve the win.
Janice Damo went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer, while Allison Barr was 2-for-3 with a solo home run for CSN (19-6, 16-4 SWAC).
Lindsey Headley started out Saturday's first game in "grand" fashion, crushing a grand slam in the first inning to set the tone for the game. Barr was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Amy Aicher had a solo homer in the third inning for the Coyotes. Tapia walked one and struck out five in six innings to get the win.
In the series finale, Barr and Tiffany Parker each went 2-for-3 to lead CSN to victory. Damo struck out five to earn the complete-game win while going 2-for-4 at the plate.
The Coyotes head to Twin Falls, Idaho, next week as they will face the College of Southern Idaho in a pair of Friday and Saturday doubleheaders. The games will be broadcast live on Network1Sports.com.
