 When attending an S.O.S Orientation, please bring the following with you:

1.Your 10-digit NSHE identification number.

a.If you have any problems with your NSHE Student ID, call or visit the Office of the Registrar at any of the three main campuses. If you are having password difficulties, call our CSN Help Desk at 651-HELP or (702) 651-4357.

2.Your Math and English Placement Test Scores. Math scores are immediately available, English scores can take several weeks. If possible, bring both, otherwise, bring at least your Math score. If you have ACT or SAT scores, please take them to a Testing Center at any main campus for equivalent placement.

3.Any prior unofficial college or university transcripts for assistance with course selection.

4.A printed copy of the degree or certificate program that interests you from our Degree List webpage or from the Health Programs Degree List webpage.

5.In addition, please print CSN’s list of Resources For Student Success.

Please be aware that you are required to see an advisor.

Please remember to do the following before registering for one of CSN’s Orientation and Academic Advising Workshop:

1.       Go to the New Students Page and follow all steps pertaining to your particular path (recent high school graduate, first time student, transfer student, or returning CSN student). Main steps include:

      a.       Submit a MyCSN Online Admissions Application.

b.      Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

c.       Submit a Residency Application if you have not lived in the state of Nevada consecutively and are applying for in-state tuition

d.      Review for the Math and English Placement Exams

e.      Take the Math & English Placement test.

                            Important Information: Math, English, and Science courses fill up very quickly; we recommend that you test early and don't delay registering for these classes.

2.     Visit our Degree List website to explore the different degree and certificate programs that we offer.

      If you are interested in one of our Health Programs, explore the Health Program Advisement Sheets for each program and make plans to attend a Health Programs Orientation as soon as possible.

Counseling appointments are available in three different formats:

 

·         Express Counseling -No appointment necessary, for new first-time students without previous college credits and for quick questions.

·         Same Day Appointments - available each day at 8:00 am on a first come first served basis only. Lately, lines start as early as 7:30 a.m.

·         Future Appointments - appointments given for future time within a 2-week period, can call by phone to make the appointment.
