  • Women who are employed in non-traditional jobs earn a higher wage than women employed in traditional female occupations
  • The number of women in Information Technology is the lowest since the 1970s
  • Grace Hopper invented the computer language APT
  • Young women age 16 to 34 make up only 1% of automobile mechanics, 4% of airline pilots and navigators, and 10% of electronic technicians compared to young men in the same categories
  • About one-half of young women work in jobs that pay an average wage
  • Over the past twenty years women's representation in engineering, physics, and chemistry has steadily increased yet computer science degrees have dropped by nearly one third.
