Information for DE Faculty
The following information is designed to help DE faculty better understand and incorporate Library resources and services into their online courses.
Online Library Resources
The Library makes available numerous electronic resources - journal databases, electronic books, etc. - to assist your students in their research needs. These resources are available to you and your students 24/7, and include:
General and Specialized Databases: The library subscribes to nearly 40 general and specialized databases. These databases provide access to thousands of full text magazines and journals, as well as more specialized information in history, music, art, literature, health, and more.
Electronic Books: The Library provides access to several distinct electronic book collections:
- NetLibrary: NetLibrary provides access to over 17,000 electronic books covering most subjects and disciplines.
- Gale Virtual Reference Collection: This growing collection of nearly 100 specialized reference works/encyclopedias covers a variety of subjects and disciplines.
- Oxford Reference Online: This collection contains over 100 dictionaries, bilingual dictionaries, and subject reference works on a wide range of topics and disciplines.
- Safari Tech Books: This collection consists of thousands of full text electronic technical books from industry-leading publishers - SAMS, O'Reilly, Cisco Press, Adobe Press, Macromedia, and more.
Online Library Catalog: this web-based catalog identifies all of the material owned by the campus libraries – books, DVDs, magazine/journal subscriptions, etc.
Accessing Online Library Resources
Accessing CSN electronic Library resources from off campus will require a user name and password:
Students: When prompted for a user name and password, students will use the following information:
User name: last eight digits of student C number
Password: date of birth expressed as four digits - MMYY
Faculty: The Library has setup a generic login for faculty to use when trying to access electronic resources from off campus. Contact the Library to obtain the necessary information by sending email to: library@csn.edu
Exception: NetLibrary is a collection that stands on its own, and it requires users – both faculty and students – to create their own account before fully making use of the electronic books. Creating an account in NetLibrary is easy and takes just a minute. Simply fill out the short online form to establish your personal account.
Embedding Library Resources - Articles, Ebooks, Database Links - Into Angel
Adding a variety of Library resources (i.e. journal articles) directly into your Angel courses is a fairly easy process, and can greatly enhance the educational experience for your students.

Copyright Information
Incorporating electronic Library resources into Angel inevitably brings up questions regarding copyright law. Copyright issues related to the digital classroom are largely governed by the Technology Education and Copyright Harmonization (TEACH) Act, passed in 2002.
