Professional Organizations

Nevada Paralegal Association
Contains the latest news and information specifically for paralegals in the Las Vegas Valley area. Members can post a job and research using their legal resources link which includes a multitude of law-related links. The Nevada Paralegal Association is an affiliate of the National Association of Legal Assistants.

National Federation of Paralegal Associations
Contains a multitude of links with information on the PACE Scholarship, Continuing Legal Education (CLE), ethics, and pro bono issues as well as a wealth of legal resource links.

National Association of Legal Assistants
“The National Association of Legal Assistants is the leading professional association for legal assistants and paralegals, providing continuing education and professional development programs...This web site includes information about the paralegal career field, and about the programs and services of NALA.” Additionally, the NALA sponsors the Certified Legal Assistant/Certified Paralegal (CLA/CP) certification exam.

American Alliance of Paralegals
Dedicated to the individual paralegal, this site provides an in-depth overview of topics and issues pertaining to that career. The site features current articles of interest, information on the American Alliance of Paralegals certification program, their code of ethical standards, a job bank for members and a number of legal resource links.

Clark County Bar Association
Incorporates legal links, court news, public legal resources and community service opportunities as well as a career center.

Washoe County Bar Association
Includes public information, publications and a career center as well as a number of legal resource links.

Nevada Attorneys for Criminal Justice
A subset of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL), this page links to a number of Nevada-specific law resources.

State Bar of Nevada
Among other things, this site provides a career center and information on and about Continuing Legal Education (CLE). In addition, the NV Supreme Court Rules button links to the Court Rules of Nevada which contain a number of related sites.

American Bar Association
The ABA is the leading association for the legal profession. Their website offers links to a wide array of legal topics, issues, publications, resources and Continuing Legal Education (CLE) information.

American Association of Law Libraries
Originally centered on the role of law librarians in various legal professions, the AALL now is affiliated with a number of state, local, federal and corporate organizations. This site provides links to career opportunities, education and current issues. Also, for a nominal fee members can access their SIS (Special Interest Section) with links to a number of specialized areas.

Law Library of Congress: Nations of the World
Nations and associated jurisdictions are listed alphabetically. Uniform subheadings under each jurisdiction provides links for the constitution, executive, judicial, and legislative areas, as well as legal guides and miscellaneous links.

U.S. Courts
This site contains a wealth of information on U.S. Courts. Subsets divide inquiries for the Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals, District Courts and Bankruptcy Courts, each with related links. Further, the U.S. Court Library button accesses a number of helpful links for the researcher.

A Guide to the U.S. Federal Legal System Web-based Public Accessible Sources
Prepared by Gretchen Feltes through GlobaLex, a publication of Hauser Global Law School Program at New York University in January 2005 with a 2006 update, this article includes links to sites associated with the three branches of government: executive, legislative and judicial. Includes an overview of each area and a wealth of helpful links.

The Oyez Project: U.S. Supreme Court Media
You can browse cases by issue or by term; browse justices by court or by seat; and browse dates. Additionally, the site offers current information on cases currently on the docket, news and current media releases.

Law Library of Congress: United States
An annotated grouping of Internet links for law researchers. Headings include: the constitution, executive, judicial, legislative, states, and a number of legal guides to other topics.

GPO Access Multiple Database Search
Allows the user to search any one of a number of access points in the government’s vast array of sites and publications.

Yahoo has compiled their own list of top law-related web sites in a multitude of categories.

GigaLaw.com
Established in 2000 by attorney Doug Isenberg, GigaLaw provides legal information to law professionals. In additional to legal news focusing on the Internet and technology, the site provides information on technology law, trademark law, domain name law, IP attorneys, and entertainment law.

LexisONE
Founded by LexisNexis, one of the premier organizations for authoritative information, this site contains a multitude of free resources including case law, forms, access to legal news and articles, and their large Legal Web Site Directory.

Administrative Law: Web Resources
Authored by Tom Mayo, a faculty member at Southern Methodist University, this page offers a wealth of web links for the legal researcher including federal, constitutional and state law.

AllLaw
Covers a wide range of legal topics as well as access to online journal and magazine articles and other web resources for the legal professional as well as the layperson.

Just as the title indicates, this site is primarily written for the layperson. Legal terminology is defined and explained. Also offers recommendations for legal issues in a specific state.

Law & Policy Institutions Guide

Hieros Gamos- Worldwide Legal Directories
This is a large site encompassing everything from U.S. and International law to a wide range of legal directories in a number of topic areas. Also includes an employment center and access to downloadable legal forms.

Business.gov
Business.gov is the official business link to the U.S. government. Compliance guidelines and recommendations are offered for business and industry as well as a link to Forms.gov to access federal forms.

JURIST, Legal News and Research
JURIST is developed and produced by the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
