Fire

BEFORE A FIRE HAPPENS:
1. Know the location of the exit nearest your area by checking the evacuation maps posted in all areas.
2. Know the location of the fire alarm pull box nearest your area.
3. Know the location of fire extinguishers in your area.
4. Know how to use a fire extinguisher.

 

UPON DISCOVERY OF A FIRE:
1. Pull fire alarm and give verbal warning.
2. Call 9-911 only if there is a life threatening situation and then call Public Safety 9-651-7911 and Facilities Management 9-651-4888.
3. Follow evacuation procedures
4. Close doors to contain fire and smoke
5. If it is safe to do so and you have been properly trained, you may attempt to extinguish the fire.


PERSONS WHOSE CLOTHING IS ON FIRE SHOULD DROP TO THE FLOOR AND ROLL.

SMOTHER THE FIRE WITH A BLANKET, RUG OR HEAVY COAT.
