Professional Organizations
National Society of Accountants
This large site is dedicated to the professional practitioner providing tax, financial and accounting services. It provides current information on IRS news, legislation and regulation, professional development opportunities, publications, peer review, scholarship opportunities, and numerous additional state, federal and legislative links.
American Institute of Certified Public Accountants
The AICPA is the professional organization for Certified Public Accountants. Through the menu bar on the left, users can access a variety of drop-down selections in each general area. Information is provided on accounting, tax, finance, ethics, career development, consumer information, legislative activities, licensing issues, and publications and newsletters.
American Finance Association
“The premier academic organization devoted to the study and promotion of knowledge about financial economics.” The AFA also publishes the Journal of Finance and the site offers a search engine to access current and past issues. A History of Finance section is available with articles accessed by streaming video authored by leading financial experts. Also included in the site are recruitment ads for job placement.
American Society for Public Administration
For the public service professional, the ASPA also publishes The Public Administration Review, and the site allows users to search archives or view current articles. Their monthly newsletter the PA Times is only available to users with a subscription. Additionally, the ASPA publishes their Code of Ethics, and offers a large awards program to “advance excellence in public administration.”
American Accounting Association
The Association primary goal is to promote education and research in the accounting field. Searchable links are provided for several journal titles, including The Accounting Review, Issues in Accounting Education, and Accounting Horizons, and AAA Newsletters. Additional links target such areas as teaching, research, practice and service.
Nevada Society of CPAs
The state’s main accounting organization, the NSCPA “administers special interest group initiatives, legislative monitoring efforts, and continuing professional education (CPE) courses.” Registration is required to access the membership section; however, general users can retrieve current information on continuing education, a student and teacher’s section, and a useful career center.
Association of Government Accountants
For finance professionals in both business and government, this site offers current news, information on certification, corporate partnerships, continuing education and training, publications, standards and research. Also includes a career center where you can post your resume or browse job listings, and a large links section with additional online resources.
Association for Budgeting and Financial Management
A subset of the ASPA (American Society for Public Administration) this site focuses on the “professional development of budgeting and financial management in the public and non-profit sectors.” Through this site users can access the ABFM Newsletter, browse job postings, or purchase simulation programs and materials. A budgeting and financial links section is also provided.
Institute of Management Accountants
Primarily focused on the accounting and finance professional, this site offers information on certification, research, publications (viewable only by subscription), and professional development.

Standards
Cost Accounting Standards Board
Under the umbrella of the U. S. Office of Management and Budget, the CASB is “an independent legislatively-established board” who has, “the exclusive authority to make, promulgate, and amend cost accounting standards and interpretations designed to achieve uniformity and consistency in the cost accounting practices governing the measurement, assignment, and allocation of costs to contracts with the United States.”
Financial Accounting Standards Board
“The mission of the Financial Accounting Standards Board is to establish and improve standards of financial accounting and reporting for the guidance and education of the public, including issuers, auditors, and users of financial information.” This extensive site includes current news and information, articles, reports, notices and abstracts, and information on the ETIF (Emerging Issues Task Force).
Governmental Accounting Standards Board
The GASB establishes state and local standards for accounting and financial reporting for governmental purposes. Information is provided for both professionals involved in issuing financial reports and their users. The site includes information on technical issues, project pages, publications, exposure drafts, plain language, performance measures, a news center, and a links section.
International Accounting Standards Board
The IASB provides accounting standards-setting responsibilities for the international community. Subsets of this organization include the IASC Foundation, the International Financial Reporting Interpretations Committee (IFRIC), and the Standards Advisory Council (SAC). This site offers users information on current projects, IASB projects and work plans, IFRIC projects, IASB editorial corrections, summaries of international financial reporting standards, meetings, news and updates.

U.S. Department of Labor/ Accountants and Auditors
Through the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Outlook Handbook, the government provides a wealth of information on the nature of the job, working conditions, qualifications and training needed, earning potential, and job outlook, among other topics.
Nevada Society of CPAs/ Career Center
Users can search by state, by company name, or browse job listings. Additional career resource links are provided to aid job seekers in areas like compiling a resume, career videos, and job descriptions.

The White House Home Page
Find current news and information on policy initiatives as well as up-to-date data and statistics on the economy, defense, education, energy, the environment and budget management among others. With this site users can access current budget information both nationally and on a state-by-state basis.
Government Printing Office (GPO) Access
Maintained by the Government Printing Office this extensive site offers links to executive, legislative and judicial resources and information. The user can search through multiple databases, and the A-Z resources list offers a “comprehensive list of official Federal resources available on GPO Access.”
THOMAS: (Library of Congress)
The Library of Congress provides free access to federal legislative information. Among other things the user can find information on bills and resolutions, congressional activity, treaties, committee reports, access to the congressional record, and classroom aids for teachers.
U.S. Department of Treasury
Find information on accounting and budget, currency and coins, the economy, financial markets, small business taxes and other topics in addition to current news releases and other related links.
United States Office of Management and Budget
Subheadings direct the user to such topics as learning about the OMB, the President’s budget, management, information and regulatory affairs, legislative information, and agency information. Additional links direct the user to more specific articles on a variety of issues and other related websites.
Government Auditing Standards, January 2007 Revision (Yellow Book)
Provided by the Government Accountability Office, this is the current revision to the standards for financial auditors. Users can access either the PDF version, or the text-accessible version.

Designed to aid students and teachers of accounting, this web site directs users to a variety of topical subsets that contain a number of specialized links. Maintained by Rutgers Accounting Research Center, this searchable site provides news, conference reports, and links to professional accounting organizations, standards, information on advanced degrees, and a large resources area with a number of related links.
Institute of Internal Auditors
An international professional association, “the IIA is recognized as the internal audit professions’ leader in certification, education, research, and technological guidance.” Provides answers to the most frequently asked questions about the profession.
AuditNet
This web site is for the professional auditor. Registration is required to access their newsletter, but users can search the career center for current job listings in a particular city, state and zip code without charge. Also, the AuditNet Library offers a number of links to other audit sites, mailing lists, worksheets, ICQ’s and questionnaires, reports and report writing and other related areas.
