Tutoring Information for Students

What Tutoring Services are Offered on Campus?
- FREE one-on-one, in-person tutoring sessions. Each credit of instruction qualifies a student up to four hours of FREE tutoring. One regular 3-credit class qualifies a student to receive up to 12 tutoring hours. Click on this link to register for tutoring.
- Additional assistance is available at a fee of $9 per hour. Tutors are not available for all subjects. Cancelling your appointment is easy. You can leave a message at any of the tutorial desks, cancel through the online scheduler, send us an email or come by in person. Cancellations must be made 24 hours before the scheduled appointment.
- No shows are charged a $9.00 fee. This fee will remain on student's records if not paid within the academic calendar year. Failure to pay the fee will prevent students' from registering for classes and/or graduating. If you experienced an emergency a waiver can be filled out and submitted to the department. All waivers are approved by the Director. Waivers are not for out of date no shows, only for those currently posted.
- FREE drop-in (15-20 minutes) tutorial labs, known as Math and Science Resource Centers; no appointment required. Faculty from the School of Science and Mathematics help oversee the resource centers, which offer tutoring in biology, chemistry, physics, anatomy, and all levels of math. You must provide a copy of your current CSN schedule to use the lab. For more information please visit the Math and Science Resource Centers webpage.

What tutors can do:
- Review and explain assignments.
- Help you understand what the instructor expects.
- Clarify information presented by the instructor in class.
- Help you understand the textbook and utilize the information it contains.
- Provide you with additional examples and practice problems to reinforce concepts.
What tutors cannot do:
- Teach you material that you have not read or heard in class.
- Do your homework and assignments for you.
