How Can I Get the Most from Tutoring?
Attend Class

Tutoring is not a substitute for class attendance. Going to class regularly and consistently will help you get the most out tutoring. |
Make Appointments Early

Appointments can be made up to six days in advance after each tutoring session. Appointments fill up quickly, especially before exams. Planning ahead and making your appointments early will give you a good chance of getting the appointment you want. |
Plan Ahead

Come to tutoring with specific questions and attempt problems on your own before coming to your appointment. |
Be Prepared

Come to your appointment with relevant materials, such as lecture notes, assignments, tests, syllabus, read textbook chapters, etc. Think of specific questions you want to ask the tutor. Do not come in expecting a tutor to do your work. Tutors are not permitted to do your homework or assist with take-home examinations. |
Arrive on Time

Be on time for your scheduled appointment. If, you arrive more than ten minutes late your appointment may be given away to another student. Appointments are 60 minutes long and will not go over the time limit. You want to arrive on time so you can take advantage of the entire session. If you need to cancel, call Tutorial Service on the campus you are scheduled to receive tutoring. Please call 24 hours in advance. Students who miss an appointment must pay a $9.00 No Show Fee. Please complete this form and return it in person to the tutoring desk where you made your appointment. No fees may be waived without submission of this form. |
Ask Questions

Tutoring is meant to be interactive. Don’t be afraid to ask questions or ask for clarification if something does not make sense. Tutoring is most productive when you have tried on your own and come prepared to ask specific questions. |
