TECH PREP PROGRAM

The Tech Prep Program allows students to earn college credit for technical and occupational coursework completed in high school.  High school juniors and seniors enrolled in an articulated Tech Prep course at their high school can earn CSN credit upon completion of the course.  They must be enrolled in the course for a full year, earn a grade of “A” or “B”, complete a special Tech Prep registration form, and pay a non-refundable fee of $10 per course.  Applications are available through all southern Nevada Tech Prep high school instructors in the spring of each year.

In 2008, 1,639 Tech Prep students from 36 Southern Nevada high schools received 7,977 CSN college credits. 855 juniors and 784 seniors (959 females and 680 males) received credit. 82 females and 140 males received credit in non-traditional courses.

Students completed 2,307 courses comprising 58 different course areas articulated with the Clark County and Lincoln County school districts. Savings totaled $468,648.75 plus the cost of text books.
