CSN 2008 Great Online Teachers Retreat

 

Last year a group of CSN faculty and instructional designers attended the Great Online Teachers Retreat in San Diego, CA in the hopes of bringing elements of this workshop to the College of Southern Nevada.   With the collaboration of CAPE, Office of eLearning and CSN faculty we were excited to offer this all day retreat to our faculty.  This was a great opportunity for CSN online/hybrid instructors to collaborate with one another in order to discover some of the best practices and principles of online teaching.   Participants also discussed some of the challenges and successes they face when teaching in the online environment.  This webpage serves not only as a scrapbook of the events but also as a compilation of all materials presented and created.

Workshop participants introduced themselves and discussed one of their favorite online lessons or practices that they like to incoprorate into their classes.  Participants also tried to solve the rope trick conundrum.  Things are not always as easy as they seem.  Sometimes we are required to think "outside the box".

 

 
 7 Principles for Best Practice

 Small groups were asked to brainstorm different ideas and practices as they pertain to the 7 Principles of Best Practice and Online Education.  This document is a compilation of the different ideas that were shared at the retreat.

 
Tech Time

This session was used to provide information on software that is avaialble at CSN in order to enhance the online learning experience.

 Challenges and Successes
