Registration FAQs


1. When do classes start?

   The semester starts on August 30, 2010

2. Why can't I register?

     If you are not able to register, it can be for one of the following reasons:

  • You have a hold on your record
  • Your PIN is invalid
  • You have not met the course prerequisites (refer to the class schedule for class prerequisites)

3. The appeal process:

  • It takes eight to ten weeks.
  • After an appeal is turned in, the appeal committee will send the student a letter notifying them of the outcome.
  • Complete the appeals form

4. How can I request an Official Transcript?

CSN has authorized the National Student Clearinghouse to provide transcript ordering via the Internet. 

You can request official transcripts in person for pickup or mail and it will take 3-5 business days for processing. However, you cannot pick  them up the same day. Download the Transcript Request Form. Include a check or money order payable to the Board of Regents.

Unofficial transcripts are available to pick up the same day. Student must provide a picture ID.

6. Where do I go to drop a class?

  • You can drop classes through Online Registration
  • You can also go in person to the Office of the Registrar.

7. How can I get my student number?

  • You can login to Online Registration with your SSN to get your student (C#) identification number.
  • You can go to the Office of the Registrar at any of the three main campuses or satellite centers. Please bring a picture ID with you.
  • Or you can mail a request to the Office of the Registrar. Include the mailing address and your signature.

8. Will a “W” affect my GPA?

No, it will not affect it.

9. What is the maximum amount of credits I can take for a semester?

Students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher may enroll for more than 19 credit hours for a regular semester, Spring or Fall, and 12 credit hours for Summer. Requests to take overload credit hours require approval from the Dean of Curriculum and Scheduling.

The recommended maximum by CSN policy is 22 credits and student should show exceptional academic ability. Student needs written permission from the Vice President of Academic Affairs. Use the form Request to Waive the 19-credit Load Limit to request credit overload.
