Welcome to the Jumpstart Dual Enrollment High School Program, Academic Partnership Division

 

The Academic Partnerships Division connects the College of Southern Nevada (CSN) with our community, with our world.  The division of Academic Partnerships is a point of contact for Pre-Kindergarten thru Master's degree, community, and other academic partnerships that fulfull CSN's academic mission.
 
The Dual Enrollment high school partnership, "JUMPSTART" gives high school juniors and seniors an opportunity to take college-level classes for credit, on site, from their high school instructors for a reduced fee. 
 
Key Program Components:
      • Classes are offered at a reduced fee at $25 per course, plus $4 per credit tech fee
      • Jumpstart students receive both high school and college credit
      • Jumpstart students have access to all college services, including student I.D.'s

      • Jumpstart students are eligible for all 200-level  and below college courses
      • Jumpstart students can take a maximum of two courses per semester
      • Instructors are "certified" by CSN departments, ensuring that they meet our academic requirements
      • CSN Department evalutes course just as they would any other
      • Texts are chosen from a state-approved list or added as a supplement 

         

 Frequently Asked Questions:

 

  • What level of classes are eligible for Jumpstart?
        A:  All 200-level and below college courses.
  • How many classes are students permitted to take per semester?
        A:  Students can take a maximum of two courses per semester.
  • Is the $25 and $4 tech fee refundable?
       A:  Once the semester begins, the fees are nonrefundable.
  • How about course textbooks?
        A:  Textbooks will be selected by CSN in accordance with the state approved adopted textbook list.  CCSD is responsible for the purchase of  the required supplemental text material.
  • How are transcipts obtained?
        A:  Unofficial transcripts may be obtained, at no charge, on-line if the student attended CSN the previous semester. Official transcripts may also be obtained on-line, or in person for a fee of $2.00 by contacting the office of the Register.
  • Can students withdraw from Jumpstart classes?
        A:  Yes.  Students are allowed to withdraw from classes before a failing grade is posted.  Please refer to the appropriate semester course schedules for dates.
  • Can students be award a grade if they did not pay for the course?
        A:  The student is solely responsible for the payment to CSN  of the tuition and fees.  If the student fails to pay all the course tuition and fees, CSN will not award any CSN credit to the student despite the student's successful completion of the dual enrollment course.

 

 

Instructor Qualifications 

 

High school instructors interested in becoming a part-time (dual enrollment) college instructor must possess a Masters Degree in their respective discipline (experience may be used in lieu of a Masters in their respective discipline.)  Math instructors must have a Masters Degree in Math or a Bachelor in Math plus 18 graduate level math credits.  Interested instructors must submit the following credentials to, Mr. Brian Myli, CCSD Guidance & Counseling, 3950 S.
