National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT)
Provides information on educational programs, awards and grants for continuing education, and annual meetings. Also provides links to related sites and The EMT News, the official newsletter of NAEMT.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA): Office of Emergency Medical Services
Provides information on traffic safety, EMS standards and guidelines, education, and workforce health and safety.

National Association of State EMS Officials
“The National Association of State EMS Officials is the lead national organization for EMS.” Information on EMS policy, meetings, projects, councils, advocacy, and publications is available. Additional resources and links are also provided.

Emergency Nurses Association (ENA)
Provides information on annual conferences, issues, training, scholarships. Also provides additional resources and links.

American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP)
Provides practice resources, information on conferences and events, and daily medical news. Shop online bookstore, and read newsletters from the organization’s many sections including the EMS–Prehospital Care Section.

American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM)
Provides information on conferences, events, and EMS issues and topics. Also provides additional resources and links. Provides links to the full-text of The Rape of Emergency Medicine by James Keaney, M.D. and the organization’s newsletters reporting on all AAEM activities and news from the world of Emergency Medicine.

International Rescue and Emergency Care Association (IRECA)
“IRECA is the oldest international organization of its kind; representing men and women in the United states and Canada.” Provides information on conferences and events, EMS competitions, and awards and scholarships. Also provides links to online EMS bookstore and The Rescuer, the official newsletter of IRECA.

American Ambulance Association (AAA)
Provides information on conferences and industry issues. AAA members have access to AAA publications. Also provides useful links.

National Association of Emergency Medical Services Physicians (NAEMSP)

Certification

National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT)
Provides the dates and locations by state for the NREMT examinations. Candidates can check the status of their examinations. Access online test application.

Southern Nevada Health District: Office of Emergency Medical Services and Trauma System (EMS)
“EMS oversees certification and licensure testing for all levels of EMS personnel and permits all EMS agencies within the county.” Provides application for EMT certificate, and manuals and protocols for Clark County’s emergency response system.

This site offers current EMS news with no subscription required. Current EMS news is categorized into several regional areas as well as specific injury types. A job listing is also included.

Paramedic.com
Lists resources for the paramedic, nurse, firefighter, and EMT, including paramedic gear and products. Discussion forums are offered and the job search button links the searcher to careerbuilder.com. Additional links are included to the top EMS web sites.

EMS1.com
This broad site covers news, training, products, resources and videos, and discussion forums. In addition, the user can link to the latest edition of their newsletter. Information in a variety of topical areas is offered including health and safety, education and training, gears and gadgets, managers and supervisors, mass casualty incidents, medical/clinical, survivability, terrorism and WMD response, and technology.

EMS Responder.com
Offers current news in the field as well as information on education and training, discussions and blogs, information on upcoming workshops and events, and a buyer’s guide to purchase equipment and medical service products. Emergency Medicine on the Web
This site is sponsored by NCEMI (the National Center for Emergency Medicine Informatics). There is a broad spectrum of research information available on this site. By entering a search term users can access data from a number of search engines including, Google, Medline, eMedicine, RXList, the National Institute of Health, the CDC, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, and others. Abstracts of current articles in health journals are listed, and subscribers can have new abstracts emailed weekly for free. Additionally, current topics in the field are reviewed and discussion blog postings are listed.

Hardin MD: Emergency Medicine & EMS
Maintained by the Hardin Library of the Health Sciences at the University of Iowa, this site offers search capabilities as well as topical information on specific injuries and/or diseases. Also, the site offers links to additional search sites and resource avenues including MedlinePlus, the Google Directory, the National Collegiate EMS Foundation, the Yahoo Directory, and the American College of Emergency Physicians.

Information is posted on specific job areas, as well as products and services related to those areas. Discussion forums are available as well as email postings at no charge. Fieldmedics maintains a job listing service, searchable by state or job title. Additionally, directory of EMS agencies is listed for each state.

Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs
“CAAHEP is the largest programmatic accreditor in the health science field. In collaboration with its Committees on Accreditation, CAAHEP reviews and accredits nearly 2000 educational programs in nineteen health science occupations.” The site is searchable and offers news and announcements, information on accreditation, and publications and other documents.

Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the EMS Professions
The CoAEMSP site lists information about accreditation, fees, forums, meetings, newsletters, progress reports, standards and policies and procedures, among other topics. The site is also searchable.

Continuing Education Coordinating Board for Emergency Medical Services
“CECBEMS is the national accrediting body for EMS continuing education courses and course providers.” Information is provided about CECBEMS, the courses available, applications, additional FAQ’s, a list of reviewers and providers.

The National Association of EMS Educators
NAEMSE offers information on their programs, meetings and conferences, current news, and helpful links to additional instructional resources, medical references, and other organizations.

Society for Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM)
“The Society for Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM) is dedicated to the improvement of care of the acutely ill and injured patient by improving research and education.” Provides educational articles, educational resources, information on meetings, and full-text access to SAEM’s newsletters. Also provides links to related organizations.

National EMS Education Standards (NEMSES)
NEMSES is a joint project of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), and the National Association of EMS Educators (NAEMSE). “The National EMS Education Standards will replace the current US DOT National Standard Curricula (NSC). Formal education standards will help guide EMS Education Program Managers and Educators in making appropriate decisions about what material to cover in the academic setting.”
