Welcome to Student Retention Services at the College of Southern Nevada!

Helping CSN students succeed and achieve their educational goals is our MISSION.

We strive to:

• Help students complete their term coursework
• Help students persist in their degree/certificates programs
• Help students graduate in a timely manner

If you are having problems with a class, or are experiencing overall personal adjustment and academic issues, please do not delay in contacting Retention Services on your campus. Before failing or dropping a class, or worse, opting to leave school, come see us. During a student success appointment a retention specialist will help you:

• Determine the root of the problem.
• Assess personal strengths and limitations.
• Develop a personal action plan.
• Sign up for academic support assistance, such as Tutoring
• Learn college success and study strategies
• Find out about other Resources for Student Success
• Connect to campus life.
• Develop a personal support network of guidance and advocacy.

Remember that for the majority of people college is not easy. Although chances are that attending college will turn out to be one the hardest things you will ever do, consider the long term financial and personal advantages of having a post-secondary education.  Simply put, education pays in higher earnings and lower unemployment rates.

Retention services also houses Retention E-Alert for Faculty– This early warning system provides faculty with a confidential means to submit to Retention Services the name of a student having problems in a class, in order that the student be offered timely assistance.  If you are ever referred to us by a faculty member through the E-Alert System, consider yourself lucky; it means your instructor cares about your success.
