ACC-201-Financial Accounting – Learning Accounting while using Virtual Communication Tools

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Basic accounting principles and techniques with special emphasis on sole proprietorships and partnerships, the complete accounting cycle, special journals, payables, receivables, depreciation, inventories, and financial statement preparation. Will also learn the use of WebCT, using an accounting 201 Online course developed over an 9 year period. This will allow students to have access to more course information and instructor and fellow student email. We will also be using an alternative learning method in the online communication tool of Secondlife.com.
SECONDLIFE COMMUNICATION TOOL:
Students will meet in a virtual classroom to discuss course projects and class materials, while searching the virtual world of secondlife for accounting practices and information. Students will then post their findings to their group discussion boards for discussion and critical thinking exercises.
