St. Petersburg TitansMARIANNA, Fla. – The College of Southern Nevada baseball team faced their toughest test of the season thus far in St. Petersburg starter Ryan Weber. Weber is ranked the No. 2 junior college prospect in the nation by Perfect Game Crosschecker.

Weber didn't disappoint the major league scouts in attendance, taking a no-hitter into the fifth inning before surrendering a pair of hits to the Coyotes. By then, it wasn't nearly enough to come from behind in an 8-0 loss to St. Petersburg College at the Rahal-Miller JUCO National Classic at Chipola College.

Justin Mishalow broke up the no-hit bid in the top of the fifth with a one-out single to right. Following a strikeout, Daniel Higa doubled to the left field wall, but that was all that CSN (1-4) could muster on offense the rest of the night.

The Titans (3-2) got started with a solo home run to right by Brooks Beisner in the second inning. Then with one out in the third, CSN starter Egan Smith (0-2) allowed four consecutive singles resulting in a pair of runs for St. Petersburg. They would score four more runs in the same inning, thanks to a fielding error at second base that kept the inning alive for St. Pete.

Smith allowed three earned runs, walked one and struck out three. Joe Robinson struck out three and allowed an unearned run on one hit in his 2 1/3 innings of relief.

Alfred Croquer led the Titans offensively, going 3-for-3 with a double, two runs and two RBIs.

The Coyotes play twice on Saturday, taking on No. 3 Walters State at 10 a.m. PST and No. 2 Chipola at 1 p.m. PST. The second game will be live on Network1Sports.com.
