NATE TESTING
North American Technician Excellence (NATE) is the nation's largest certification organization for heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration technicians.
How do I register for an ONLINE NATE Test?
Registration must be in person at one of the CSN/NATE Testing Centers. NATE Tests are given at the – Charleston (702-651-5733), Henderson (702-651-3128) and Cheyenne (702-651-4050) campuses.
CSN offers ONLINE NATE Tests ONLY. Candidates MUST make an appointment with the CSN Testing Center (Proctors).
Two fees must be submitted to the CSN Testing Center staff where you wish to test when registering. One for the NATE Test and a second for CSN’s Proctoring services.
Testing candidates are responsible for knowing which specific NATE exam they are required to complete. Once an exam is opened online (even if no questions have been seen) the testing candidate will be charged the full price. Please see the NATE exam descriptions on the
NATE website.
Submit to CSN Testing- one money order (NO check or cash) for the “NATE” test
· If taking a Specialty or Core Test the cost is $100.00 per test.
· If taking an Efficiency Analysis Tests the cost is $150 per test.
A separate money order or cash (NO check) payment to the CSN Testing Center MUST be made for the Proctor fee.
(Tuition and fees are subject to change by the Board of Regents)
o This fee is $40.00 for each Specialty or Core Tests (2 hours test) or
o $80.00 for each Efficiency Analysis Tests (4 hour test)
· This fee is not altered even if the candidate is taking more than one test the same day.
What the Candidate Needs-
Candidates who have never taken a NATE test will have a NATE ID created for them and they will create their own 6 digit PIN (Personal Identification Number).
Candidates who have taken a NATE test in the past MUST have their NATE ID and PIN numbers. They will not be able to log on to the tests without them.
Candidates can look up their information online at my NATE if they provided a PIN on their answer card. If Candidates are unable to receive their NATE ID online they will need to call NATE’s Toll Free line (877-420-NATE), Monday - Friday, 9am to 5pm Eastern time, to get their information prior to testing.
How long does a certification last?
Once certification is obtained it lasts for five years.
