RANGELY, Colo. – The College of Southern Nevada baseball team rolled past Colorado Northwestern Community College in the first game of a Scenic West Athletic Conference doubleheader on Friday, winning 10-0 before surviving a scare in the second game, winning 11-5.

In the opener, Gabe Weidenaar (3-1) pitched six solid innings to get the win. Matt Jaimes, Scott Dysinger and Daniel Higa each had two hits for the Coyotes (15-11, 7-3 SWAC).

In the nightcap, the Spartans (6-18, 2-8) came back from a 5-1 deficit to tie the game at 5 in the seventh inning, but CSN posted a 6-spot in the ninth to pull away for good.

Joe Robinson (1-0) earned his first win of the season in relief of starter Egan Smith. Jaimes had a 3-run home run for the Coyotes.

Both teams face one another again in a doubleheader on Saturday.  Game time has been moved up to 11 a.m. MDT.
