The College of Southern Nevada softball team dropped from their preseason ranking of 13th to 20th in this week's National Junior College Athletic Association Division I Softball Poll released earlier today.
The Coyotes (21-10) actually share their No. 20 ranking with Georgia Perimeter College, as both teams received the same amount of points during voting.
Salt Lake Community College (24-5), who is currently in first place in the Scenic West Athletic Conference, skyrocketed up from their preseason ranking of No. 20 to No. 7. Second place College of Southern Idaho (24-10-2), who swept CSN in a four-game series in Twin Falls (Idaho) last week, vaulted up from No. 27 in the preseason to No. 10.
The Coyotes host North Idaho College (15-14) this Friday and Saturday in a pair of SWAC doubleheaders. Friday's first game starts at 1 p.m., and Saturday's first game has a special start time of 10:30 a.m.
On a side note, should CSN sweep NIC this weekend, coach Ysidro Jimenez will reach his 100th victory as the Coyotes' softball coach. He is currently 96-90 in his fourth season as head coach.
BASEBALL – Another milestone could possibly happen this weekend for CSN, as coach Tim Chambers is just four wins away from victory No. 400. If his Coyotes (17-11) can sweep the College of Eastern Utah (11-15) this Friday and Saturday, he will reach the mark at home before heading for the road.
Chambers is currently 396-170-1 in his 10th season as head coach.
