ONLINE COURSE NAVIGATION:
You will find that your first assignment is to send me an email with a personal profile. Also begin working on chapter 1. The best process for working through the materials is: Read the chapter, review the power points, work the homework assignments (once completed email them to me via email attachment), take the practice quiz (not graded), then take the graded exams assigned to our current chapter. You will find the chapter materials within the course content link. Within each chapter link you will find the graded exams. You will also find additional course study materials within these chapter links. There is a British Airway Case project that is also noted on the syllabus. If you have any questions email me. It will be a pleasure to work with each of you during this spring 2012 term.
STUDY SKILLS:
Here are a couple of ideas when taking an online exam that I have learned over the last 12 years of teaching in the classroom, hybrid, and online environments. Some of you are using these techniques, but everyone should have this additional information. In taking the exams I would have your homework, any notes, the textbook, and any other materials you used to go through the chapter materials with you when you take the graded exams. Also use the Index in the rear of the textbook to reference specific chapter materials in the text as you work the exams. Take a look at the Index and see what features it provides. The glossary is also a great place to find reference materials about chapter concepts. This is true for almost every textbook. Also make sure you are completing each chapter’s homework and sending it to me, via email attachment.
Textbook Homework Assignments: See calendar within Angel course for start and due dates. We will also complete two graded exams per chapter.

British Airway Project (60 points) – This consists of working through the British Airway’s case at the end of each chapter. Just do the best you may and send me your results every week in an email separate from your chapter homework, using the same due date and time as the chapter homework. Stay in touch and let me know how your project is coming along. The final project is to send me a written summary/evaluation of the overall BA project. This means taking each chapters materials/answers and sending an overall summary. This final project should be 3-6 pages in length (double spaced) and contain comments from each chapter and an overall judgement or reflection on what you learned from this project and how it relates to each chapters materials and the overall content of the text and Intermediate I.
Transfer Project: (60 points) – This project consists of doing a compare and contrast outline and paper. It will be looking at the transfer agreement between CSN and Regis (see bottom of syllabus for this document along with a contact to gather information for the project). The second part is looking at a transfer from CSN to UNLV (contact is the same person as that for the CSN Regis portion). First step is to get together a list of questions that you would like to ask the contact. The transfer information you will need to find considers a transfer following this course or after you obtain your degree from CSN. (Potential questions; What credits will transfer? How much will it cost to obtain my Bachelors, once I transfer? Are there scholarships for me given my current status? Is there financial aide? Will there be help in finding a job? How long will it take, once I transfer, to graduate with my Bachelors? What are the pros and cons of transferring to each college?) Once you have gathered the information from the contact and filled out your transfer sheets, so that you know where you stand with credits and your transfer you are ready to start your final portion of the project. Put together an outline that shows your finding regarding the Regis transfer including what courses you have taken, what needs to be completed, what are the costs, what scholarships and financial aide is available at each institution, what is the time frame to a CSN degree, and Bachelors graduation at both Regis and UNLV, along with your personal findings as part of this project. Example; Number I. Transfer to Regis – then provide all of your information. Number II. Transfer to UNLV – then provide all of your information. Number III - Overall findings and discussion of project. You may add other sections if you find it to be more helpful in understanding your information.
