Dr. Chemene Crawford
Dr. Crawford is a college administrator, instructor, trainer, and leader. Her academic successes include a Baccalaureate degree in Organizational Behavior, and a Master of Human Resources and Organization Development degree in Human Resources and Organizational Development from the University of San Francisco. Dr. Crawford has also completed a Doctor of Education degree in Organizational Leadership at Nova Southeastern University.
Currently, Dr. Crawford serves as the Interim Vice President for Student Affairs for the College of Southern Nevada. For over twenty five years, Dr. Crawford served as a student services professional, instructor, and consultant within four segments of higher education – from proprietary school to graduate university. She has made several presentations to various groups across the United States, on issues such as small business management, personnel supervision, effective communication in the workplace, advanced organizational management, management information systems, cultural diversity, and various student aid topics. Dr. Crawford has also been a trainer for the National and Western Associations of Financial Aid Administrators.
Chemene has provided input into various publications for the Nevada Millennium Scholarship program, EDFUND’s Funding Your Future handbook, and other EDFUND publications. She has also authored a study of California’s Chief Executive Officers, as well has a paper presented at the NACADA Pacific 9 conference entitled, Retention: Financial Aid Appeals/Advisory Committee. Dr. Crawford also published a journal article in the winter 2001 NASFAA Transcript entitled, “You expect me to pay how much?” Dr. Crawford is a former member of the editorial board for the Student Aid Transcript, a national publication.
Dr. Crawford has served on numerous local and national committees for student advocacy. Her professional awards include the UCCSN Outstanding Administrator’s Award, Gubernatorial Recognition as a member of the Nevada Millennium Scholarship Steering Committee, Gubernatorial and U.S. senatorial recognition as a Rose Award finalist and mentor through the Las Vegas Professional Black Women’s Alliance, and inclusion in the Second Edition of Who’s Who in Black Las Vegas. Other awards received by Dr. Crawford include the Cosumnes River College President’s Award and the JTPA Summer Youth Employment Program Supervisor of the Year.
Dr. Crawford has also published a book entitled, “I’ve Got Something to Say!” with Author House publishing. Chemene’s purpose in life is to live life to the fullest and to encourage others to do the same by being the best that they can be.
