Fall 2012 Bookstore Credit Guidelines

The bookstore credit is based upon a student's expected financial aid refund after the student's account balance has been paid in full.  Since the first disbursement for fall 2012 is not scheduled until September 4, 2012, the bookstore credit process allows a student to purchase books before classes begin.

  1. The credit is valid only at the CSN Bookstores.

  2. The credit will be charged to the student's CSN account.  Pell Grant and/or Direct Student Loans will pay towards the student's tuition and fees as well as the bookstore credit.

  3. The amount of the bookstore credit will be based upon the student's enrollment status; specifically at the time the bookstore credit list is run.  It is highly recommended that a student be enrolled in all of their courses prior to participating in the bookstore credit process.  Bookstore credit amounts will be based on the following schedule:

    Enrollment              Maximum           Minimum

1 to 6 units                      $250                        $100   (This amount will only be offered if the student does not have eligibility for $250)

7 units or more              $500                        $250    (This amount will only be offered if the student does not have eligibility for $500)

  4. If a student is eligible for a bookstore credit, they will see an amount charged on their student account (via MyCSN, under Account Activity) which identifies their credit limit.  If a student is not eligible, they will receive an email notifying them of their ineligible status.  Students who receive an ineligible response may become eligible based on increased enrollment or a change in their financial aid eligibility.

  5. Students who do not use the full credit amount at the bookstore will have the remainder re-applied to their CSN Student Account.  Refunds from unused bookstore credits are expected to be applied back to the student's account on or around October 9.  We encourage students to sign up for Direct Deposit to expedite the refund process.

Being offered a bookstore credit does not constitute a confirmation of eligibilty for fall 2012 Pell Grant or Direct Student Loans, which is based on financial aid eligible enrollment and Satisfactory Academic Progress yet to be determined.  Students will be responsible for their fall tuition and fees as well as the bookstore credit charge if their financial aid eligibility cannot be established.
