Here are some pointers that will assist you on your search:
- If you choose to begin classes, go through the Online Orientation in our webpage.
- If you do not have a chosen field, consider a Career Interest Inventory.
- Meet with a Career Counselor to go over the results of your inventory, any questions, or to create a plan of study.
- Once you have an idea of what you want to do, conduct an informational interview with people in that industry. Take advantage of internships, job shadowing and volunteer opportunities.
- Do research in Nevada Career Information System (NCIS) and the Occupational Outlook Handbook.
- Join clubs and organizations both at CSN and in the community. Create a career file and fill it with business cards, names of prospective employers, contacts in the industry, etc.
- Sharpen your communication, problem solving and people skills.
- Adopt a positive attitude. Choose to be part of the solution not the problem.
