Adult Literacy & Language

We offer English as a Second Language (ESL), Basic Reading and Math, and General Education Development (GED) Preparation courses on campuses: the Sahara West Center, the Green Valley Center and the Neighborhood Learning Center.

Generally, classes meet for 6 weeks, 9 hours per week. ESL, Basic Skills and GED classes are scheduled at the Sahara West Center in the morning, afternoon and evening. ESL and GED classes are scheduled in the evening at the Green Valley Center.

Currently, morning ESL classes are scheduled at the Neighborhood Learning Center with afternoon ESL classes to be scheduled in the future. More evening ESL and GED classes are held at various other locations throughout the Las Vegas Valley.

We currently offer:

ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE CLASSES

  • ESL Pre-Literacy
  • Beginning ESL
  • Intermediate ESL
  • ESL Beginning/Intermediate/Civics

BASIC SKILLS & GED PREPARATION CLASSES

  • Reading, Writing and Math Basic Skills
  • GED Preparation - Reading, Writing and Math
ELIGIBILITY: The minimum age for enrollment in classes is 17. Basic Skills and GED Preparation classes are available to adults who are in need of basic reading, writing and/or math skills.

Under the auspices of the Nevada State Plan for Adult Education, the College provides educational opportunities to help individuals 17 and older learn to read, write and speak English, and/or compute and solve problems at a level of proficiency necessary to function on the job and in society, and/or achieve their personal, educational or employment goals.
