Library Resources and Databases Off-Campus Access

Back to Login Screen

Students will need to determine their User Name and Password

Note: Students must have an active CSN Network Account. Click the following link if you need to validate your account:
   Activate CSN Network Account

  • User Name: A student’s user name is their NSHE student number.
  • Password: When you validated your network account, you were forced to reset your password. Whatever you selected as your new password, will be the password you use (the same password you use for Angel and on-campus computer access).

CSN Faculty Access Information

CSN faculty use their network account (Active Directory) information to login from off campus.

  • User Name: Faculty and staff must use their network account/active directory user name (i.e. jane.doe).
  • Password: Use the network account/active directory password that you have selected for yourself.

Off Campus Access Troubleshooting

What browsers are supported?

EZproxy is not browser dependent – any current browser will work fine.

My Username and Password won’t work, why?

You must be a current CSN student, faculty or staff member to use library resources from off campus. If you get a message that states your login information is incorrect:

  • Students must have a valid CSN network account to access library resources
  • Adjunct faculty must have a valid CSN network account to access library resources
  • Be sure CAPS LOCK is not on (password information is case sensitive)
  • Doing everything right and still not getting access? Email the library at: library@csn.edu

Do I need to enable Cookies in my browser settings?

Yes, in order for the system to work properly, you must have Cookies enabled within your browser.

I’m at work and can’t access any databases or library resources, why not?

Many corporate, government, and organizational computer networks have firewalls in place for security reasons, and they may not allow access to resources through a proxy server. If you login correctly but get the error message - “this page cannot be displayed” – it is probably a firewall issue with your workplace network. You will need to talk to your workplace network administrator to see if access can be allowed.

I logged in correctly, but the database doesn’t seem to function properly

  • Although infrequent, there are times when a database vendor is experiencing technical problems at their end. When they do occur, these problems are usually resolved quickly by the database vendor. Wait 15-20 minutes, and try connecting to the database again.
  • Functionality problems could also be due to your browser not working with the programming certain database vendors use (Java or JavaScript, Active Server pages, etc.) Your browser's settings may need to be adjusted.
