The
son of Peter and Denise Ponciano, Dane began playing baseball at the age
of 10. Dane was drafted by the Houston Astros in 2004, and again by the
Minnesota Twins in 2005. He feels the greatest thrill in sports to date
was when the Boston Red Sox swept the New York Yankees in the 2004 American
League Championship Series to advance to the World Series after being
down 3-0 in the ALCS. A three year varsity athlete in high school, Dane
batted .330 and .353 in his final two seasons.
