Study References for Placement into Math 283 - Calculus III
In order to place into Math 283 you must know the following Math 181 and Math 182 concepts.
Course Objectives:
a. Analyze the concept of function limits and continuity.
b. Differentiate functions using fundamental rules.
c. Perform differentiation techniques such as the general power rule, chain rule, product rule and quotient rule.
d. Evaluate definite and indefinite integrals.
e. Differentiate and integrate transcendental functions.
f. Analyze differential equations.
g. Evaluate solids of revolution and arc lengths.
h. Perform integration techniques such as integration by parts, trigonometric integrals, trigonometric substitution, partial fractions, and using tables.
i. Analyze indeterminate forms and work with L'Hopital's Rule.
j. Evaluate sequences, series, tests of convergence/divergence, and Taylor Polynomials.
k. Find the slope of a tangent line to a polar graph and to a curve given by a set of parametric equations.
l. Find the arc length of a polar graph and of a curve given by a set of parametric equations.
m. Find the area of a surface of revolution (parametric and polar form).
