The information below pertains to a data security incident involving Blackbaud, a third-party vendor contracted by the CSN Foundation. Blackbaud was a victim of a data security breach that has affected as many as several hundred organizations worldwide. Leadership of the CSN Foundation were notified of the incident on July 16, 2020.
Blackbaud suffered a cyber incident that resulted in potential unauthorized access to certain information maintained by Blackbaud. Blackbaud is a cloud computing provider that offers customer relationship management and financial services tools for many independent schools, universities, and non-profit organizations. Unfortunately, Blackbaud’s incident impacted a significant number of these organizations, including College of Southern Nevada Foundation.
Please know that we take this incident and the security of your personal information entrusted to us very seriously, and we are diligently working to determine the full nature and scope of this incident.
While we work to better understand this event, we are reaching out to you, as a valued member of our community, in the interest of transparency. We sincerely regret any concern this incident may cause you and will communicate, as necessary, pending the result of our investigation.
Upon learning of this event, we immediately commenced an investigation to determine what, if any, sensitive College of Southern Nevada Foundation data was potentially affected. Blackbaud advised it worked with forensic experts and law enforcement to investigate this incident. Blackbaud also reported to us that this incident did not involve information such as social security numbers, credit card information, or bank account information. However, in an abundance of caution, we continue to investigate to confirm Blackbaud’s assurances and better understand what occurred.
