How to join the BUMP Up Minority Male Mentoring Program?

All new applicants to the BUMP Up Minority Male Mentoring Program at CSN must submit a program application, complete a student survey and commit to the program for at least 3 years or completion of the academic program at CSN.

The goal of the program is to provide students with a strong sense of belonging and develop holistic skills and abilities to enhance their chances of persistence, progression and completion of a college degree through faculty, staff and community mentoring. 

The program offers opportunities for students to:

  • Acclimate to college and community life
  • Make supportive, personal connections with other students, faculty and staff
  • Identify possible academic and personal obstacles and utilize student support services in a timely manner
  • As a group, share a sense of social responsibility and promote community engagement 

New Student Applicants

Eligibility

To be eligible for the BUMP Up Mentoring Program, students must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be admitted to CSN;
  • Self-identify as an African-American minority male college student;
  • Currently enrolled at CSN, taking at least 6 credits during the fall and spring semesters.
  • Pursuing a certificate of achievement, a two-year degree program or be on a transfer track to a four year institution;
  • Have need for academic support and the ability to benefit from program services;
  • Be able to commit to spending a minimum of 5 - 6 hours per month attending workshops, mentor meetings and academic guidance.

Returning Students

To be eligible for the BUMP Up Mentoring Program, students must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be admitted to CSN;
  • Be a 2nd year BUMP Up participant;
  • Currently enrolled at CSN, taking at least 6 credits during the fall and spring semesters.
  • Pursuing a certificate of achievement, a two-year degree program or be on a transfer track to a four year institution;
  • Have need for academic support and the ability to benefit from program services;
  • Be able to commit to spending a minimum of 5 - 6 hours per month attending workshops, mentor meetings and academic guidance.
