CSN - Committees
College Governance
The Nevada Board of Regents governs the College of Southern Nevada along with all public higher education institutions in the state. In addition, CSN practices shared, consultative and participatory governance and the college received praise during its last accreditation visit for its shared governance model.
Our goal is for genuine shared governance to give voice to concerns common to all constituencies as well as to issues unique to specific groups.
Administrative Faculty Assembly
The Administrative Faculty Assembly (AFA) will assure non-instructional administrative faculty (Director level and below) participation in the formulation, implementation and evaluation of institutional policies and goals; serve as the liaison to the President on non-instructional administrative faculty issues; and provide avenues to promote institutional cohesiveness and shared governance.
Classified Council
The Classified Council serves as an advisory group to the CSN President on issues pertaining to classified employees and makes recommendations on matters of personnel policies and procedures and provides a means of communication and dissemination of information to classified employees of the college.
Faculty Senate
The CSN Faculty Senate is a representative body responsible for faculty participation in planning, development and governance of the college.
College Councils
CSN college councils represent the views of faculty, staff and students and serve in an advisory role to CSN's vice presidents and the CSN President in their respective areas of expertise.
Academic Committees
All-College Committees
CSN all-college committees include a diverse group of college employees and/or students and serve to provide input as part of the shared governance model on matters of the areas they represent. In addition, they support the college's mission through the development, planning and implementation of activities and initiatives.
- Safety and Security
The Safety & Security Committee, comprised of representatives from across the College community acts in an advisory role to the President and assists in monitoring, improving, and maintaining a safe and secure campus environment for employees, students, and visitors. The Committee receives and evaluates safety and security concerns affecting the CSN community and recommends appropriate corrective or preventive actions to the President.
