Robert S. Partch has taught full time at the College of Southern Nevada since August 1997.
He was approved for tenure on March 1, 2001 and is a professor with the Graphics Communications Program.
He teaches a variety of graphic art courses: Introduction to Computer Graphics (GRC 103); Introduction to Visual Design (GRC 107); Drawing and Illustration (GRC 110) and Cartooning- traditional and digital- (GRC 158).
His degrees include a Bachelor of Individualized Studies from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico (1979) and a Master of Science degree in Medical Illustration from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia (1982).
Robert’s “real world” work experience includes:
Medical Illustrator (free-lance), New Mexico, California and Nevada- 1982 to the Present. In Nevada his clients have included- University Medical Center, Desert Springs Hospital, University of Nevada School of Medicine, Heart Institute of Nevada, Cardiovascular Center of Southern Nevada and Crocket and Myers Law Firm. A number of Mr. Partch’s illustrations have been published in various professional medical journals;
Commercial Illustrator; Medical Illustrator; Designer- Subia Corp., Albuquerque, New Mexico, 1982-1988;
Art Instructor- Painting (watercolor, oil); drawing/life drawing- Studio of Combined Arts (co-owned with his wife Mary), Albuquerque, New Mexico (1988-1990); Illustrator, Graphic Designer- Imperial Palace, Hotel/Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada 1990-1995.
Professor Partch strives to create a “real world” atmosphere in his classes. Robert’s goal, as an instructor, is to facilitate his students’ development in the Graphic Arts field, and prepare them for their future professional careers.
