Applicants must complete a mentor activity on or before April 30, 2019 to qualify for the Nevada Promise Scholarship. Mentor activities will be held at some CCSD high schools as well as all three CSN campuses.

Studies show that mentoring students by providing information, guidance, and encouragement helps nurture their college aspirations and prepare them for the transition to college. The goal of the Nevada Promise mentoring component is to empower youth to thrive regardless of life transitions. Mentors can support Nevada Promise Scholarship applicants by:

  • Encouraging high school graduation.
  • Promoting academic excellence.
  • Listening to college and career aspirations or life goals, and connecting mentees with the appropriate college resources.

Level I: Group mentoring activities with current high school seniors, that are current Nevada Promise applicants.

CSN will offer group, guided, and supervised mentoring activities at one of our campuses during evenings and weekends. In addition, CSN is collaborating with CCSD schools to provide mentoring opportunities at high schools. Those activities will take place in the spring. The time commitment for the mentoring session activity will be approximately 2 hours.
