The Culinary Arts Program provides training for careers in both the culinary and pastry arts.

Why Study Culinary Arts at CSN?

Our program is designed to teach students the knowledge and skills to be successful in their chosen field through hands-on practical training in our on-campus restaurant and kitchens, foodservice management courses, and related skill development courses.

Associate of Applied Science Degrees and Certificates of Achievement are offered in both Culinary Arts and Pastry Arts, each of which is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration and the American Culinary Federation (ACF). The ACF ranks our program as ‘Exemplary’, indicating the highest educational standards recognized by the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation Accrediting Commission. This latest ranking period will mark 21 years in a row our program has been ranked as exemplary, a designation that allows our graduates a chance to be certified as Culinarian or Pastry Culinarian without taking the practical and written exam!

Our graduates can pursue careers in foodservice such as prep cook, sous chef, pastry chef, and executive chef, among many others.

Culinary Arts Degrees and Certificates

Culinary Arts: BAS

The Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) in Culinary Arts degree is administered in an accelerated structure to meet industry demand.  Advanced culinary techniques, business courses, and management courses for full-service careers in today’s food service and hospitality industries are covered.

Culinary Arts: AAS

This degree is a quality, professional program for students wishing to enter and/or advance in the field of culinary arts. Students are taught to master the fundamentals of cooking with emphasis on hands-on preparation of various cuisines including basic cookery. aromatics, international and French cooking.

Pastry Arts: AAS

This degree is a quality professional program for students wishing to enter and/or advance in the field of arts. Students are taught to master the fundamentals of cooking with emphasis on hands-on preparation of various cuisines including basic cookery. aromatics, international and French cooking. Students who successfully complete this degree are eligible to apply and receive Certified Culinarian status from the American Culinary Federation.

Culinary Arts: CA

The Certificate of Achievement in Culinary Arts is a quality, professionally-oriented program designed for students wishing to enter and/or advance in the field of culinary arts. Students are taught the fundamentals of cooking with emphasis on hands-on preparation of various cuisines, including Basic Cookery, Garde Manger, Aromatics, and Saucier.

Pastry Arts: CA

The Pastry Arts program is a quality, professionally oriented course of study designed for students wishing to enter and/or advance in the field of pastry arts. Students are taught to master the fundamentals and techniques of baking and pastry arts with emphasis on hands-on preparation of breads, cakes, and pastries.

The quality of CSN’s Culinary Arts and Pastry Arts Programs is demonstrated by successful evaluations from three accrediting organizations: Culinary Federation (Exemplary Status), Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration, American and the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities.
