How are Science & Mathematics students demonstrating learning achievement?

Percent of Student Learning Outcome Achievement Across S & M Programs

Figure 1 above shows that student achievement of program learning outcomes (across all Science and Mathematics programs) has increased from 58% in 2015 -2016,  72% in 2016-2017, and 67% in 2017-2018.  This increase variance can be attributed refinement of assessment methods and measures.  This chart reflects how well students are learning and performing across biological and physical science degree and certificate programs.

Percent of S & M Programs with ALL SLOs Achieved at 80% or Higher

Figure 2 above illustrates the percentage of Science and Mathematics programs where each learning outcome has been achieved by students at 80% or higher.  This percentage (33%) has been constant across three years and represents three programs.The Associate of Science program outcomes have yet to be measured and reported.   Physical Sciences is currently refining their pre- and post-test processes, and Biological Sciences has experienced consistent student achievement of learning outcomes at 80% or higher.


How are students learning by Department?

All programs identify valid assessment measures and report on how well students are performing the essential abilities within the learning major.  CSN has set a goal for all student learning outcomes (program or course) to be achieved by students at 80% or higher.  For each of the programs listed below, student learning outcome achievement is shown as student performance averaged across all program student learning outcomes (SLOs).
