The practice originally began during the French Revolution in 1789: Supporters of the revolution arranged themselves on the king’s left in the National Assembly, while supporters of the king would be on the right. The practice continued in France, and over the next century, other legislative bodies accepted the organizational practice, and those who held opposing beliefs on the role of the government in society and the national economy would arrange themselves accordingly. If interested in learning more, Professor Mirjanian is teaching Political Science 101 this summer and this fall. He's also teaching PSC 200 – Survey of Political Theory -- in the fall online. - via Facebook 26-Apr-2013 If you're having trouble with MyCSN, you're not alone. We're really sorry about it.
