VIEW POST CSN President Federico Zaragoza issued the following statement on the passing of Assemblyman Tyrone Thompson: “I am immensely saddened to hear of the passing of Assemblyman Tyrone Thompson. He was a tireless advocate for education and was a tremendous friend to the College of Southern Nevada. An advocate for underserved children, Assemblyman Thompson understood the positive impact a mentor can have on a student, and authored legislation to create the Nevada Advisory Commission on Mentoring. He worked with CSN on many projects, including organizing the first ever Mentoring Matters Summit in 2017. He also welcomed myself and dozens of CSN students into his assembly office during CSN Day at the Legislature, where he shared his wisdom and his time with our students. His legacy on higher education is admirable and he will be missed. During this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.” - via Facebook 4-May-2019 Vital medical information can often be hidden under the surface, so CSN paramedic medicine students are getting a peek under the skin with the use of new life-saving portable ultrasound devices. The students are the first in the state to receive training on the devices, due to a partnership with Valley Health Systems Graduate Medical Education program and a grant from the Governor’s Office of Economic Development.
