Following approval of state budget earlier this month and 15% cut to higher ed, regents approved fee increases today for Nv colleges/universities. This fall, CSN students will pay $69.25 + $9 surcharge per credit (lower division) and $113.25 + $14.75 per credit (upper division) plus existing tech and any special course fees. Fifteen percent of surcharge will go toward financial aid.

Today was our 2019 Adjunct Impact Conference, an event aimed at helping get our adjunct faculty ready to go for the first day of the semester. At CSN, adjunct faculty teach a significant portion of our course schedule so CSN is committed to helping faculty being successful in the classroom. The daylong event included breakout sessions on a number of topics, a student panel and lunch at Texas Station.

Happy Fun Fact Vendredi de CSN: In June 2011, France banned the words "Facebook" and "Twitter" from radio and TV unless either company is the focus of a story. According to Entertainment Weekly (ew.com, 6/6/2011), the French government's broadcasting authority felt that broadcasters saying things like "Find us on Facebook" or "Follow us on Twitter" served as stealth promotion for the two social networking sites and this was unfair to all other social networking sites. From JOUR 101 Critical Analysis of the Mass Media and CSN Communication Professor Rick Marks. The course is offered onsite and online every semester. In addition, there is an 8-week section beginning in a few weeks that is online only. There will also be a 4-week online section this summer and several sections this fall.
