The human eye notices the color red more easily because the cornea is colored yellow which absorbs the shorter wavelengths of blue and green (and the yellow coloring also helps protect the eye from harmful ultraviolet rays.) This is also why the color red is used in signal lights, stop signs and other warning and attention-getting purposes. Except for all that curing-diseases-and-increasing-human-knowledge business, it's eclipses. Am I right? There’s going to be a lunar eclipse Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. If you’re into that sort of thing — and you like science, so you’re into it — you should come by CSN’s Planetarium. While you could hang out on your patio and see it from there, it’s always better if you have a nice telescope or two. We’ve got some killer telescopes. The lunar eclipse — this is when the Earth is between the moon and the sun, making the moon turn dark — will start at 2:18 a.m. Wednesday, and it’ll go until 6:34 a.m. We’ll be welcoming folks at the Planetarium starting at 11 p.m. Tuesday, unless it’s super cloudy. Cloudy isn’t good for astronomy. If you can’t make it, no worries. There’ll be two more lunar eclipses in 2015. - via Facebook 6-Oct-2014 Nov 24 CSN V.E.T.S.
