John C. Aliano is the Program Director of the Videography & Film Program and has worked at CSN since 2010. He teaches Cinematography I & II, Videography I & II, Documentary II and Portfolio classes. John is the founder and producer of the annual CSN Short Film Showcase, a presentation of some of the best student films produced in the past year. This event honors student excellence and rewards top filmmakers with over ten thousand dollars in sponsored prizes. The Showcase has helped build the Videography Program into a nationally competitive entity with students being nominated for 54 Student Production Award Emmys and winning 33 Student Production Awards in the last four years (NATAS PSW Chapter).
John has won the 2014 CSN Distinguished Faculty of the Year Award and NISOD Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award (2014, 2015 & 2016). He won an Emmy Award for Location Lighting and was nominated for another Emmy as Director of Post-Production. In 2015 he was producer of the documentary feature film "No Greater Odds", a film about five community college students who faced family issues, financial difficulties and personal obstacles as they sought to better their lives through higher education.
